STARS OF THE KONKANNI STAGE: PLATILDA DIAS

It was on the flight from Kuwait to Goa on 02nd December, 2001, Mrs. Platilda Dias (returning home after acting in Mario de Majorda's drama together with Comedians Domnic and Agostinho) when requested to be interviewed was kind enough to oblige me with the same.

It seems Platilda Dias's carrier in acting began about 4-decades back, when in 1959 she took part in the Portuguese drama "Balau" as a child artiste, rendering the song 'Que Saudades" and recalls first taking part in one of the Village dramas and singing very well in the same and thereafter being invited to Majorda (together with her brother, presently in London), where Jacint Vaz, Kid Boxer and M. de Verna were present. Mentioned about both their singing being well appreciated, so much so that in 1960, M. de Verna gave her a chance to act in his production 'Tevoi Thomas".

Over the years it seems that She was given a chance to act in M. de Verna's productions and Platilda mentioned about acting in a lot of other dramas, one of which She recalled doing a special role for was in Star of Curtorim's "Kanteantlem Full", directed by the late Nelson Alphonso. Another drama She mentioned playing a significant role was in Mike Mehta's drama "Hello Daddy".

Over the years Platilda mentioned about acting with many directors and considered M. Boyer as her favourite, due to his being a very good writer, director and comedian.

She mentioned the late Jacint Vaz, Actress Ophelia and Lorna being her favourite Comedian, Actress and Singer respectively.

Talking about her family, Platilda married to Ivo Dias and having 4-daughters had to say that her husband used to compose the Songs that She and her Brother used to sing.

At the time of the interview She was acting in Roseferns's drama "Nixxani" and while concluding the interview had to say that after acting She just likes to relax.
