Information minister releases Konkani drama book

Minister for Information Subhash Shirodkar released a Konkani drama book entitled "Dharna Deger", authored by Jayesh Rama Naik at a function held at Ravindra Bhavan auditorium, Curchorem on 9/6/2000.

Ramrao Desai and Vinay Tendulkar both MLA's and Ajit Kerkar dramatist attended the function which was jointly organised by Ramanand Prakashan, Sanvordem and Konkani Kala Sahitya Kendra, Curchorem.

The drama based on corruption,weaklings and superstition had won the prestigious second prize in the all Goa open competition organised by Kala Academy in 1992.

Speaking on the occasion Shirodkar complimented the organisers for releasing the book on the auspicious occasion of Goa revolution day.

Speaking further Shirodkar asked social and cultural organisations to work for the preservation and enrichment of varied culture of the state. There is need to attract people towards art and literary movement which has been showing a dwindling trend Shirodkar said and stressed the need to wake Goa a peace having full of artists, poets, literatures and scholars.

The Information Minister said the Rajiv Kala Mandir which is coming up at Ponda will be dedicated to the people and the artists by the month of Dec this year. He said, the remaining work of this prestigious Rs 3 crores project will be taken up within next 15 days and added that the work of Siolim bridge will be completed by December.

Shirodkar also complimented the writer of the book and asked him to present his drama in rural areas of Goa.

Vinay Tendulkar, MLA who presided over the function suggested to encourage budding artists by the government by providing them requisite facilities. Ramrao Dessai, MLA asked the writer of the book to continue his playwrights writtings. Ajit Kerkar spoke on the book Dharna deger.

Jayesh Naik author said that he has written three more books namely, Ta Thaiya Tak Thaiya, Sangarsh and Shadyantra which will be released within couple of months. Shirodkar released the souvenir brought out by Ramakant Prakashan on the occasion. Ajit Kerkar presented certificates to the artists of Shadyantra, a one act play on the occasion.

Earlier N Suhas, president of Konkani Kala Sahitya Kendra, welcomed and Ashok Naik proposed the vote of thanks.
