Bonifacio Dias' film gets nine nominations

Goa State Film Festival Award ceremony on July 8, 2000
at the Kala Academy, Goa.

Bollywood stars Jackie Shroff, Tabu, Namrata Shirodkar, Pallavi Joshi, Milind Gunaji, playback singer Sudesh Bhonsle and Shaktiman Mukesh Khanna will provide the glitter for the second Goa state film festival prize distribution ceremony on 8 July, 2000 at Kala Academy.

Four films are competing for the prizes worth Rs 3 lakh and Bonifacio Dias' film To Dis Udelo takes the honours with a maximum nine nominations while Tyaag got eight, Mahadev Khanolkar's Hans Mare Hans and Dista Toxem Nasta five each and Dhani received three.

Speaking to reporters, Information and Publicity Minister Subhash Shirodkar announced that the winners will be declared on 8 July, 2000 and the ceremony will start at 5.30 pm.

Eight films had been shown a few months ago at the second film festival and four films were shortlisted for the best film prize.

The nominations are as follows:

Best film -- Tyaag, To Dis Udelo, Hans Mare Hans and Dista Toxem Nasta.

Best director -- Mahadev Khanolkar (Dista Toxem Nasta), Vitthal Naik (Hans Mare Hans), Bonifacio Dias (To Dis Udelo) and Vitthal Naik (Tyaag).

Best Actor -- Durgesh Raikar (Gabru) in Dhani, Mahadev Khanolkar (Apa) in Hans Mare Hans and Anil Kumar (Jacob) in To Dis Udelo.

Best Actress -- Cynthia Parab (Rachna) in Dista Toxem Nasta, Amita Nayak Salatry (Roma) in Tyag, Shubhecha Sadhale (Deepina) in Hans Mare Hans.

Best supporting actor -- Sandip Kalangutkar (Mr Lobo) in To Dis Udelo, Subhash Parkar (Sameer Sir) in Hans Mare Hans, and Nitin Kolvekar (Mr Tarcar) in Tyaag.

Best Supporting Actress -- Fatima (Prisca) and Jyoti Kunkalienkar (Savitri) in To Dis Udelo and Seema Paiginkar (Jovita) in Dhani.

Best child artiste -- Baby Monalisa and Baby Pradnya (To Dis Udelo), Manali R Naik (Tyaag), and Prajakta Mhadgut (i).

Best story -- Rohidas Shirodkar (Tyaag), Milind Mhadgut (Hans Mare Hans) and Anil Chodankar (Dhani).

Best dialogue -- Rohidas Shirodkar (Tyaag), Ani l Chodankar (Dhani) and Anil Kumar (To Dis Udelo).

Best lyrics -- Peter de Benaulim (Niddat Goa Bai) in To Dis Udelo, Shakuntala Bharne/ Shantilal Patel (Mogal Tujea Pissavn Gela) in Tyaag and Varada D Gad Kerkar (Iuganchem Git Mogachem) in Dista Toxem Nasta.

Best music director -- Nitin Mardolkar (Dista Toxem Nasta), Shakuntala Bharne/Shantilal Patel (Tyaag) and Augustine D'Cruz (To Dis Udelo).

Best playback singer (male) none.

Best playback singer (female) -- Bindiya Vasta (Iuganchem Git Mogachem) in Dista Toxem Nasta, Roshan (Nhiddat Go Bai) in To Dis Udelo, and Rajani Thakur (Mogan Tujea Pissavn Gela in Tyaag.

Best cinematographer -- Johnwell (To Dis Udelo), Uday Nageshkar (Tyaag) and Chetan Mandrekar (Dista Toxem Nasta) while there were no nominations for best screenplay.

The first two best films will get Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively. The first and second prizes for the best directors will fetch them Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000. All other categories will have one winner and prize money will be Rs 10,000. The best supporting actor and actress will get Rs 7,500 each.

Director of Information and Publicity K V Prabhugaonkar was present at the briefing.

Kamlakar Sontakke, Fr Planton Faria and Vishnu Wagh formed the panel of judges.
