Francis Xavier D'Souza, Goa's most popular football referee, breathed his last at the age of 81 at the Goa

Medical College, where he had been admitted for chest pain, on October 18. FX was honoured with the prestigious Jivbadada Kerkar Award for 1996-67 for his immense contribution in the field of sports. He was a champion athlete in Kenya, Uganda, Zanzibar and Tanzania, and a brilliant goalkeeper of Arpora's St Joseph High School.
