" Mario Menezes breaks another record in Dubai"

Mario Menezes' hit drama "Tiatr Somplo Cholat Ghara" was performed in Dubai at Wonderland to a capacity crowd of more than 1500 people. It was a total surprise to the audience as the venue "Mist Lake" and its surroundings resembled Goa's picturesque villages as the ambience was just perfect.
As it was the 100th performance of the show, the director was felicitated by the organizer Lawrence Fernandes (see picture below) by presenting him with a memento on behalf of Dubai Goans.
The show was excellent and the crowd was glued to their seats until the end as all the sections of the play including acting, singing, lights effects, music and comedy were worth watching. Melody Prince was also presented a prize by Gulf Air so also the trio of Agnes, Sabina and Rosy Alvares were presented a huge hamper by Nestle/Nescafe with their mixed products. Mario Menezes and Justino were also presented with the gifts by a Konkani lover Caetano D'Souza. The organizer himself felt quite emotional when master comedian Ben Evangelist sang an old song of Goa's Charlie Chaplin late Jacinto Vaz, entitled "Bombay Dekho, Fatorda Dekho" and so on and presented him a cash award followed by a young lady from the audience. Ben had to repeat the song at least 6 times and the crowd was still insisting for more. Mario & Lawry's "duos" were quite impressive too so also the comedy by Ben, Ambe and Fernando.
The show was sponsored by "Al Diyafah High School - Dubai" (Main Sponsor) owned by a renowned Goan Basil D'Cunha. In his speech the organizer thanked Basil and reminded the audience to patronize Al Diyafah High School by sending their children to this well organized institution founded by late Winnie D'Cunha. The organizer also thanked the co-sponsors for their support for having made this event very successful. The co-sponsors were ME Bank, International Printing Press, Gulf Inn Hotel, Nestle/Nescafe & Blue Fin International Shipping.
Mario thanked the audience for having supported him and his troupe and hoped to get this continuous support for his future play as well, which he is going to release by end of October this year, entitled "Sounsarant Kon Nhoim Konancho".
The troupe left early morning today (Friday) to Doha - Qatar via Abu Dhabi to perform there and will be flying off to Bombay on Saturday to resume their practice for the next show.
The organizer is planning Mario's future tour to the Middle East and Canada which will be released shortly.
