'CANTARAM'
SINGING COMPETITION BY KALA ACADEMY
Tony Fernandes and Bushka Bringel, won the first prize in the decent solo
singing categories, in the state-level `Cantaram' singing competition organised
by Kala Academy. In the comedy category, Christopher D'Souza won the first prize
in the solo section, while he, along with Stanislaus De Souza and Bruno Monteiro
were adjudged the best in the trio (comedy) category.
In traditional singing, there were 34 entries in different categories who were
judged by a panel comprising of Fr. Antonio Cotta, Irene Cardozo and Cezar
D'Mello. In the decent category (solo male), Tony Fernandes bagged the first
prize for his song `Ghor'. The second prize went to Santana Rodrigues for his
song `Pai' and the third to Sergio Martires for `Marekar Dis'. In the same
category for females, besides, Bringel, Sibila Rodrigues was given a special
certificate for her song 'Xezari'. In the decent-duet category, Sergio Martires
and Ana Soraya Monteira were given special prizes.
In the male category for comedy section, besides, the first prize winner,
Christopher D'Souza, Francis Fernandes was awarded the second prize and Milly
Cruz the third. In the same category, Anthony Bringel was selected for a special
prize being the youngest.
In the comedy (quartet) category, Santana Rodrigues, Evaristo Rodrigues, Sibila
Rodrigues and Brendon Rodrigues, were given a special prize.
