BEST KONKANI SONG OF THE YEAR 2000

The Konkan Mail - The English and Konkani fortnight publications, has awarded Bab Socorro Fernandes of Santa Cruz for his album Devak Sodtam. The best song for the year too goes for the tract "Kargil" from the same album.

The lyrics and tunes has been written and set up by Bab Socorro Fernandes popularly known as Socorro de St Cruz. Josinho was also awarded as the best composer for the album.

The award was presented to Socorro at Hotel Mandovi in the presence of Tourism Minister Victoria Fernandes, Olivinho Gomes, and Fr Avinash Rebello, Parish Priest of Santa Cruz Church.

Representating the Konkan Mail were Mathias Vaz. The function was compered by Dr Bicaji Ganekar.
