NEW SARPANCHAS FOR BARDEZ, OTHER TALUKAS

PANJIM, May 14: Followign persons have been appointed as the new
sarpanchas of four Bardez villages and two in South Goa.

Nutan R Nagvenkar of Arraiswaddo (Arpora-Nagoa), Martha P
Fernandes of Uaiginnvaddo (Nachinola), Raymond Menezes of
Auchitvaddo (Tivim), Mohan Pandurang Sawant of Khalapvaddo
(Verla-Canca), Shashikant Shrikant Gaonkar of Jaquem (Netorlim in
Sanguem), and Gabriel Antonio Fernandes of Mullas (Paroda in
Salcete).

New Sarpanchas have also taken over in Sarzora (Santan Conceicao
Rebello), Corlim-Tiswadi (Minal Motiram Dhulapkar), Sridao-Palem
(Joanita Sebastiao Marques), Fatorpa-Quittol (Umakant Uttam M
Dessai), Cotigao (Arati Gajanan Gaonkar), Querem-Sattari (Rajaram
Vishnu Majik), Anjuna-Caisua (Hanumant Uttam Lingudkar).

Other villages to get new sarpanchas are Sirigao in Bicholim
(Vassant Bala Gaonkar), St Estevam (Ramesh Gurudas Phadte),
Curti-Khandepar (Suman N Naik).

GOVT TAKESOVER MULGAO H.S.S: Goa government has taken over  the
management of Dnyanprakash Mandal, which runs the Mulgao-Assonora
higher secondary school.

Deputy Education Officer Gajanan L Pednekar has been placed in
charge of the institution, on behalf of the government.  

Education Director Rinku Dhugga said in an order that this action
was because the instituion had placed under suspension HSS
principal Raghunath Gawas under suspension "without sufficient
ground".

The government in Panjim said that even after the action had been
revoked by the Education Department, the managing committee "did
not pay any heed and thereby showed total disrespect and
disregard to requests and instructions" of the department.

SPECIAL JUDICIAL MAGISTRATES: S V Usgaonkar (Pernem and Bicholim)
and S P Pilarnekar (Ponda and Sattari) have been appointed
Speical Judicial Magistrates for a period of one year.

They have been given powers to record confessions, dying
declarations, or witness statements under Section 164 of the Code
of Criminal Procedure. They can also hold identification parades,
and have all powers of a Second Class Judicial Magistrate.
