Exhibitons of Goa of the fifities

By Frederick Noronha

Alliance Française de Goa in association with Goa Association of
Photographers will be organising an exhibition of photographs of Goa in the
1950s at the Alliance Française art gallery in March 2000. The purpose of
this venture is to create an awareness of the Herculean metamorphosis that
has changed the face of the Goan ambience since then. This endeavour is
also aimed at encouraging the older generations to express their opinions
and share their experiences with us of the yesteryears.

We also plan to conduct later, a contest of photography of the same Goan
scenes as they manifest themselves today.

We would be obliged if private collectors or photographers would co-operate
with us by participating in this exhibition. The photos can be on any theme
of Goa portraying the lifestyle, dress, architecture, family of the 1950s.
We promise to return the photos to the owners after the exhibition and to
take care of the exhibits during the exhibition period. The photos are
strictly for the purpose of exhibition.

The photos should reach us by the 10th of March 2000 in order to facilitate
the task of selection and exhibition.
