PRESS NOTICE

A  number  of  annual academic awards for 1989-99 to top Goan students in Kuwait for excelling in their respective classes, on Goa Day 1999, sponsored by GWS patron member, Mr.& Mrs. Sam Alphonso, were given to:

Olinda D'Mello (Std. XI)
Wilson Iganatius Gonsalves (Std. XI)
Chantelle Marise Miranda (Std. X)
Noel Micheal D'Souza (Std. X)
Christabelle Pinto (Std. IX)
and  Myra Antao (Std. IX).

Mrs. Mabel Alphonso,  the  guest of honour, congratulated the winners  of  the  GWS annual academic awards.   In her brief, well-worded speech in Konkani  and English, her  message  of 'say no to drug' and   'yes to education' was well conveyed to the students and their parents and the same was taken with a big applause.

Goan Welfare Society (GWS), Kuwait is pleased to announce the GWS Scholarship Awards for acedemic year 1998-99 to bonafied Goan meritorious top ranking students among the Indian Schools in Kuwait, who secured the highest number of marks in the aggregate at the Std. IX (school level), Std. X (CBSE Examination Board, New Delhi), Std. XI (school level) and Std. XII (CBSE Examination, New Delhi - Commerce & Science streams.  The GWS Sponsorship Awards are sponsored by Mr.& Mrs.  Sam Alphonso (patron member of Goan Welfare Society).

The criteria for judging the awardees will be based on the authenticated marks sheets and birth certificate, detailed address in Goa, Telephone contact in Kuwait, should be sent to the President, Goan Welfare Society, P.O. Box 1335 Safat, 13014 Safat, Kuwait
