I have loved my visits so Goa so much that now that I am planning my dissertation for my BA in History of Decorative Arts (as a very mature student!) I would love to hear comments from other visitors about what they buy, from whom and what memories these souvenirs carry with them. Any experiences about shopping generally - haggling - range of goods available/prices etc.
I have particularly curious to know why there are no Goan artefacts available for the tourists to purchase - I know that historically the Goans were fine craftspeople and produced wonderful jewellery/architecture/intricate ivory/mother of pearl items.
Comments about the changes to Goa because of tourism would be helpful - whether it is welcomed or otherwise.

Hello.

I am Dave Kuziara and I live in England on the south coast. I have started to
read a book about Mother Teresa and how she helped the poorest people in India
who were starving and dying.
This made me wonder if the situation in India was still similar to when Mother Teresa started her missions there. So I started to search on the Internet for some information about (the real) India - not the tourist versions.
This is how I came across the AMCAC Indefinite Hunger Strike pages.

I realise that the dates on these pages suggest that it started in March 2000
more than a year back. Having read it anyway, I am keen to know what happened.
Who won ? I hope it was AMCAC. Are the eighteen people all right ? Please let me know what it is like in the real India, we dont get told the full story here
- we are surrounded by so much self centred commercialism it's hard to see what is really happening in the world today.
I belong to a church; one that actively supports in prayer and other means those
who need help and prayer. Please let me know of anything I can take to my
church - perhaps there are things we can do for the poorest people too (like
Mother Teresa - more to the point 'like Christ').

Really enjoy your web site 'thank you.
