Braganza, Fonseca and Lobo. All help and suggestions welcome. I shall put
all the info I have on a web page as soon as I become literate enough to
create one!!and next time include that address...

graduated from Saint Francis Xavier's High School in Mapusa in '75, please

no futuro.

Very thoughtful of you to maintain an archive of all the relevant
articles on the Kanpur Tragedy. It cost Goa the lives of some of it's best
musicians....and some of us lost very dear friends. I surf thru your site

Hi there! I have been coming to Goa on and off since 1977 (although
I was only three!) and am about to come back to see what has changed in
this beautiful place. This very professioanl website is a good start. I
hear that there are some very strict new laws being enforced regarding
smoking in public, music in Bars (is Titos still knocking about) and
outdoor raves. Is this true or are they exagerted? Please reply to my
email address.

Good work Keep it up.
What a nice site, keep on, it is necessary. Seria demais sugerir a
abertura de uma página "CONHEÇA AS SUAS RAÍZES" ou "QUER CONHECER AS SUAS
ORIGENS?". Talvez fosse um bom incentivo para tantos descendentes de
goeses espalhados pelo mundo que, ao descobrirem a possibilidade de
encontrar familiares sentir-se-iam motivados para viajar até GOA para os
conhecer?
Great website, balanced, fun and useful. We are coming to Goa in
December 2000 and would like to stay in or near Palolem. We are low budget
travellers with a 1yr 6mth old boy, Sebastian. My partner, Helen and I
would like to rent a small and simple place with cooking facilities if
possible. We are much influenced by Buddhism and seek to live in a way
which is in accord with ahimsa - non harming. For this reason we support
all the efforts to make Goa a just and ecological society. Although I do
not know all the details my inclination is to strongly support the rights
of the beach shack owners in their struggle to keep their liveihood. It
seems to me that the five star hotels etc. are trying to do them out of
their livelihood and at the same time maximise profits at the expense of
the environment. If you can help re accomodation or have something to tell
me about the shackers plight email me or go to Sharpham College for
Buddhist Studies and Contemporary Enquiry website www.sharpham-trust.org -
thanks!
Great site! Useful, balanced, and respectful. We are coming to Goa
in December 2000 for a month and ould like to stay somewhere around
Palolem. My partner and I are budget travellers with a 1yr 6mth old boy
Sebastian and would like to rent somewhere where we can cook for
ourselves,if that's possible. We are buddhists and wish to respect all
beings and ways of life and to care for the environment as much as
possible. So we try to be low impact. We support the responsible beach
shackers in their struggle to keep their livelihood out of the hands of
the five star hotels. May all beings be happy!
Keep up the good work God Bless you. This site is
excellent
I would like to hear the latest Konkani music by the latest
artists.

Correction-- Goa was not Liberated in 1961 by the Indians
.Resolution 998 of the United Nations clearly states that it is an
invasion. For more details please go to the above website. Or read
elsewhere about the Invasion.
Used your site looking for information about a specific hotel I have
booked in Candolim
The site id pretty informative ....congrats for that . Could you
please include about the Marathi literature/books as well...? I believe
that Konkanni-Marathi is the joint language of Goa. The newspapers in

Great! Now we will try and make a Bibinca cake, although I'm sure it
wouldn't be as good as the one my grandmother used to make. But we'll give
it a try. We are missing the mango season (here in Germany) - it's nice to
read about Goa. Thank you.
Very happy to come across this site. We have been dying to hear some
good "Konkani" songs....All your hard work is much appreciated. My family

Excellent Portal. I was looking for a "Goans in the US" website and
found this. Great start - I hope you can build on this platform and create
some online communities for Goans to exchange recipies, short stories, and
other relevant tourist information. That would make me want to come back
and visit this site regularly.....

Christmas.....Keep up the good work, I'm so proud to be a
Goan!
Hi fellow Goa-lovers. Though I have yet to visit the jewel of Asia,
I have met many Goans through my "princess". We went to her home town of
Nairobi, Kenya, last year and there I met dozens of Goans. We attended the
celebrated PARRA feast, named after her home town in Goa. What a blast ! I
even sampled the dreaded S-O-R-P-O-T-EL !!! If anyone has any Goan friends
or family in Nairobi, please let me know--we may have mutual friends.
Ciao

knowing about you and your culture. Definitively Internet is a miracle!
Thank you very much Caje!
Its wonderful to know that Goans have this site which is very
informative specially for me who has never ever been to Goa although all
my relatives are there. I have been through the recipe link and the
pictures link and that is wonderful. It can still be expanded more if all
goans pool in some of their ideas.

Great site! Its very comprehensive, interesting and indeed
informative.I am sure it will be of great help to anybody who wants to
visit or learn about the blessed Goan land.My absolute
compliments!!!
As an expatriate Indian of Goan origins, I am writing to express my
fascination and deep appreciation for the well-researched and properly
developed 'goa-world.net' website. It is a gold mine of valuable
information on Goa and a treasure trove for all Goan afficionados. I am
delighted I stumbled on this website which I read of in a recent issue of
GOA TODAY monthly published from Panaji. The articles by Frederick Noronha
and Dr. Jose Colaço and the other eminent contributors are very enchanting
and captivating. The site is astounding, completely riveting and an
excellent testimony to Goan talent and prowess. I am impressed with the
depth and extent of influence exerted by this miniscule community
nationally and internationally. Congratulations an a fine and meticulously
prepared website and keep up the fine work. You have done all Goans and
Goa-philes proud. After browsing through this site, I feel a little
taller. Thank you and please keep up the good work. Best wishes. Malcolm

colleagues and associates. Bravo and Viva Goa !
brought back some wonderful memories but offset slightly by the
thought that people like ie. western tourists who have visited this
wonderful part of the world are the chief contributors to the erosion of
local culture and the destruction of the landscape for the sake of a few
hotels.
This site is awesome!
You are doing a great service to our community! I'd love to
contribute to your wonderful website..
While I can't help love your website, I'd like our community of
Goans to be more organised. We need to interact more often and even try to
draw up programmes for our people: eg a job alert service, helping our
children get better education, creating trust (mutual)funds. Let's not
assume, for once, that everyone among us is doing well. We must not allow
ourselves to die, like the Jews in Karachi, we have to infuse a new
dynamism into our society. Most important, stick together. Some of the
most talented people are Goans, let's not forget that.
Very useful information

September.Viva Goa!
Great Job with the site. Puts you into the urge of leaving for Goa
tonight. Hold on back to reality -- Love to but not feasably practical. A
suggestion -- How about phone book with email addresses in Goa. Do advise.
LOVE TO GOA -- I MISS YOU.
Thanks to this website, Goans living abroad can feel "saudades" from
Goa. The word "saudades" derives from the portuguese language. I said
Goans and about this term, I very much appreciated the comments made by
Ms. Maria I Dias, from Kuwait. She is indeed right when she says that we
are called GOANS and not "goanese" wrongly used by many foreigners and
sometimes by some goans born and educated abroad to whom their parents di
not transmit the Goan culture. Well done Ms Maria Dias.
nice site but nothing on varca beach.
Lovely Website, thanks for the good work. Keep it up.
Lovely Website, thanks for the good work. Keep it up.
It was sheer joy to visit this fascinating site and get first hand
infromation about Goa and all Goans spread throughout the world. At last I
can download Kokani songs in MP3 format to listen at my own pleasure and
this will definitely bring back the wonderful memories of my numerous
visits to Goa. Last but not least I would just like to mention that we now
have our own Goan 'do' in form of a picnic in the Netherlands where we
first met last Summer(July) and will meet this coming week(15th July).
It's amazing how many Goans live here in Holland and it's a delight
getting to meet each other, share small talk and savour the delicious
traditional 'eats'/ dishes brought along. We look forward to make the most
of this gathering in reminding ourselves of the deep heritage we have in
our culture and social aspects. I lived in kenya for quite a number of
years and still miss the Goan 'atmosphere' I had there. Hopefully it can
all come back here in my newly adopted country. GOANS EVERYWHERE, ALWAYS
BE PROUD OF YOUR ROOTS....

well planned and with interesting topics. GOA, Rome of East, really

Marvellous site, Keep up the team spirit. I really appreciate your
precious time put up by you guys. I would like to comment on some of the
comments given on your guestbook by our fellow Goans who are abroad and
still do not know how to address themselves, they call them goanese or
goanese culture which I think the pure Goan wiil never use this word
Goanese. we are called Goans and only Goans from Goa and not goanese as
some of our unknown friends who do not know much about our territory calls
us. That's it I am a Goan and I am proud to be only Goan.
I love Goa and love to hear about it
I went to Goa in Nov 99 & had the most fantastic time in my

be updated regularly.

Hi, Ive been out of Goa working in Brazil and the US for the past 2
years. Its a real pleasure to visit Goa websites and keep in touch real
time with events back home. I am sure you will have a lot more people
signing your guest book in the years to come as millions of people join
the internet. Keep up the good work. Abracos. --Gilbert.
I am a goan presently on deputation with United Nations on

I am very much from Pangim, now holidays in Mississauga-TORONTO,where
my son SUNIL is settled. I am just for 3 weeks but was full of "saudades"
of AMCHEM GOEM.and in this site-GOA WORLD- I found something wondeful.Keep
it up and try to improve it as much as you can.eg. why not have a
"dictionary" of literature on Goa from times immemorial. TheDirector of
the Xaviers Centre for Historical Research(B.B.Borker Marg-Porvorim,Goa
could help you to organise it It can always be a source of information for
those keen to know about our beloved land. if bu chance any person known
to me comes across my address, I will be delighted to have his/her news.

Sweden who got the name Ronita... I'm adopted from Calcutta India. Please

Great site, great place for a winter holiday!
Lovely website, informative. I wish though that the goan people and
the politians work together to leave behind not just a memory of how
beautiful Goa was but how beautiful it still can be. The best part about
living in California is that the taxes that we pay are used to maintain
our cities and states and we take an active part in the elections as
well.
I`ve Been in Goa(Anjuna)1999 and i love it. The People are very
Friendly and the landscape are fantastic. Boom Shankar!!
I enjoyed browsing thru your site. Keep up the good work!
I was looking for goa trance, but stumbled on this site. Pretty good

Great site,Great memories from 92-96. Thanks to the Goan people who

music.
Some day I will make it to Goa, untill then your site has whet my

Greetings from Paris FRANCE ;-) Félicitations !!!
please revise your chat room to make easier to access.
I visited Goa for the first time in April. I stayed in Calangute at
Hotel Senhor Angelo. Everthing about the holiday was outstanding. Your web
site has enabled me to keep abreast of happenings in Goa. I will certainly
visit again and revel in the unique Goan hospitality.
A wonderful job! Keep it up. Let us Goans U N I T E!!!!!
A Fantastic Site. Keep up the great work.
Hats off to the marvellous job you all are doing. May God shower his
choicest blessings upon you'll always.
I love your site - I visit it quite often, especially now that I
have travelled to Goa (where my grandmother comes from - she was from
Panaji and died in Mozambique). I like ALL your features, particularly the
"Konkani Tutor", "Recipes", "Pictures" and your "Guest Book", because it
brings Goan people together. I've just found out that my grandmother's
parents are buried in Panjim, so maybe I still have relatives in Goa whom
I would like to meet. They were called Agostinho and Ermelinds Henriques
de Melo. Could anybody advise me on the best way to find out if the
Henriques de Melo family still has any descendants in Goa? Your web-site is really nice. I especially like the Recipes Section.
Your site is a good example of great team work as well! I feel quite at home (Goa) when I visit this site. Thank you
guys. Would appreciate if you could start a chat room so we all Goanese
could talk. Thank you.
Check Out Our Old Guest Book |
