Inter-religious book released

PANAJI: The Archbishop-Patriarch Raul Gonsalves
released a book entitled "Understanding our fellow
Pilgrims" at the meeting of the Diocesan Pastoral
council on 1 September at Lar de Estudantes, Panaji.

The book is compiled by the sub-committee for
inter-religious dialogue of the Goa Jezu Krist Jayanti
2000 committee and edited by Fr Gregory Naik SJ the
ex-convenor of the sub committee. It has a foreword by
Bishop Filipe Neri Ferrao.

Introducing the book Fr Aleixo Menezes, the present
covenor of the sub-committee said that book was
published in order to help the Catholics in Goa and
elsewhere in India "to understand and appreciate the
faith, rituals and customs of our brethren belonging
to other faiths so that there could be better
interaction among the people of all faiths."

The book consists of five parts. The first three parts
deal with Hindu religion, festivals and
worship-rituals. The fourth part explains the other
major religions of India. The fifth part is a
compilation of some religious texts.

The book is published by Gujarat Sahitya Prakash and
is priced at Rs 95.
