A
Goan Potpourri'-- a mix of memories and world recipes
PANAJI: Plant a Goan anywhere in the world. Yet his heart and thoughts keep
veering towards "the green, green grass of home". So it is with Dr
Anibal da Costa, economist and international globe trotter, presently residing
in Manila, Philippines, who has skilfully captured the flavour of a fast
fading era in his book "A Goan Potpourri", released on 28 February, by
former Phillippine president Fidel Ramos.
Old timers will nostalgically recollect through the pages of this book, an age
of innocent fun enlivened by lively, colourful characters, each with his
own, strongly indivdualistic personality. In fact, this attractive publication
is truly a pot pourri, containing a mixture of
funny stories, international recipes and wonderfully evocative original
illustrations by Mario Miranda and da Costa's daughter Bettina. This is a book
that you would like to have or gift to a friend.
